Lack of effective solutions for dry, sensitive skin leads to confusion in choosing the right products. Butterfly Wellness offers product transparency and a trustworthy shopping experience.

RESEARCH

Surveys, interviews, and competitive analysis identified two key user groups and their needs were translated into user personas and storyboards. Market analysis and secondary research informed customer needs and platform design.

DESIGN

Unconventional methods were used for a deeper user experience. Empathy Mapping with unexpected skincare categories explored emotional connections to products. Card Sorting with Emotions prioritised features based on desired user emotions.

While a Customer Journey Comic with Archetypes depicted diverse purchase journeys, Five Senses Sketching incorporated multi-sensory elements.

USER EVALUATION

Pilot release of over 1000 products assessed the effectiveness of the initial 2 skincare formulations. The project partnered with multiple wellbeing companies to facilitate product distribution. Feedback was gathered regarding effectiveness of skincare, packaging, and usability of website.

REFLECTION

This project on Butterfly Wellness's e-commerce platform solidified my collaborative design skills by integrating user research, market analysis, and competitor insights into the creation of a user-friendly platform. Contributing to a product focused on wellbeing for people with sensitive skin allowed me to see the real-world application of design in improving lives.
